God's Greatest Gift

A Reflection by Lisa Mladinich

I felt a powerful hunger for the Eucharist this morning. So when I picked up my daughter and two other children from their science lab, we headed off to a noon Mass together. The children were wonderful, having been promised a treat at the bakery afterwards for good behavior. And in the echoing church, enfolded in the gentle rhythms of the liturgy, the Eucharist was a tender homecoming.

Afterwards at the bakery, we shared fresh quiche and rolls, cutting everything into halves and enjoying their fragrance and flavor together. Fruity muffins followed amidst laughter and warm conversation, deepening the bonds of our friendship.

Thank you, Jesus, for feeding us at your table and remaining in our souls! You are the joy that shines through us and out to others. We love you!
