As you prepare for this retreat, pause for a moment. Take several deep breaths and allow yourself to grow still. Be aware of God's loving presence within you.
John 6:51
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world."
Living bread from heaven. Who doesn't long to taste even the smallest morsel? We may call it by different names, but we all know the hunger. During those times when it seems that every door slams in our face, the promise of living bread from heaven fills our imagination. Our body, mind, and spirit go in search of the only thing that will satisfy: God. The Body of Christ, which we receive in the Eucharist, is the life-giving bread that gives strength to us who partake of it and, through us, is life for the world. We become what we eat. By consuming the Living Bread, we too become living bread. God feeds the world through us.
For what do I truly hunger at this time in my life?
How has God used me to feed others this week?
(Speak to God using this prayer or a prayer of your own.)
Lord Jesus, Living Bread, may I always hunger for you.
