Before you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments to set aside all distractions. Take three deep breaths. Remember that you are in the loving presence of God.
Matthew 28:19-20
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."
Discipleship is all about relationships. Jesus formed relationships with his disciples. Before returning to the Father, Jesus commissioned them to go out and make disciples by baptizing and teaching. As others heard the Good News of Jesus, they, too, desired to enter into relationship with him. Today we enter into relationship with Jesus through Baptism. We're called into relationship with Jesus and with the Christian community. Through Baptism, we share in the dynamic presence of Jesus, who promises: "I am with you always, until the end of the age."
How is my relationship with Jesus evident in my relationships with others?
How can I share with others the fruits of my personal relationship with Jesus?
(Speak to God using these words or your own words.)
Loving God, thank you for calling me into relationship with your Son, Jesus. Help me to trust that he is with me always.
