Before you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments to quiet yourself. Take three deep breaths, and call to mind that you are in the loving presence of God, who is with you as you continue this faith journey.

Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit.
The common expression "dying of thirst" points to the life-giving power of water. In the sacramental life of the Church, the water of Baptism is our entry into the family of God. We then continue this each time we enter the church by dipping our fingers in the holy water font and praying the Sign of the Cross. This action reminds us of our first entry into God's family at our Baptism. We are reminded of the grace we received in Baptism and that it continues throughout our lives.
