The arrival of the Holy Spirit must have been a surprise for the disciples, who were hiding in fear. Totally transformed, the disciples went forth and spoke boldly of Jesus before those in Jerusalem who were gathered from every nation. When we are open to the promptings of the Spirit, we, too, may experience similar surprises. We also are able to enjoy the fruit of the Spirit working in our lives as we experience love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
What sign of the Holy Spirit's presence have I witnessed recently?
For what intention, personal or global, do I want to beg the Spirit's help today?
(Speak to the Holy Spirit using these words or others that come to mind.)
Living Spirit, surprise me. Rest on me that I might boldly proclaim the Gospel with my life.
