Before you begin your retreat, free yourself from any distractions. Breathe deeply several times; open your mind and heart to God.
1 Peter 2:4-5
Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen and precious in the sight of God, and, like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Have you ever been in a situation in which you had to decide between Gospel values and societal values? Choosing is not always easy, and deferring to Gospel values can come with a high cost. But if Christ is the cornerstone of our existence, and he is if we are truly his disciples, our Godly values will construct for us an inner sanctuary of spirituality. This sanctuary is pleasing to the Father and life-giving for us.
When have you had to choose between Gospel values and societal values?
What solace did your Godly values offer?
(Pray, using these words or your own.)
God of love, help me to become the spiritual being you created me to be. May I always draw strength from the foundation of my faith.
