Before you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and focus on your breathing. Take several deep breaths. Be aware of God's presence within you.
John 8:31-32
Jesus then said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
Many times while watching a sporting event, the fans erupt into a frenzy because they are certain that the referee has made a bad call. From their vantage point the fans see the play differently than the referee. As people of faith, we see differently than people of little or no faith. The writers of Sacred Scripture wrote through a lens of faith as they sought to share God's wisdom. Faith is the lens through which we see the world differently. We are invited to experience Jesus through that lens of faith, so that we might know the salvation and the freedom of living in God's Word.
In what way does the lens of your faith affect your outlook on life?
How do you allow your outlook to be expressed?
(In these or your own words, pray to God.)
Loving God, I am so very grateful for the gift and grace of faith in my life. May that gift continue to bear fruit, so that I might be a light for those in darkness.
