As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and allow yourself to grow still. Take several slow, deep breaths. Become aware of God's unconditional love for you.
Psalm 65:10-14
You visit the earth and water it,make it abundantly fertile.God's stream is filled with water; with it you supply the world with grain. Thus do you prepare the earth. The pastures are clothed with flocks, the valleys blanketed with grain; they cheer and sing for joy.
In this psalm the fruitfulness of the earth is a testament to God's love. In response the created world sings with joy to the Creator. In the creation of the human family, God's generosity is unsurpassed as we are given a soul, intellect, and free will. When we use these gifts to know and serve God and one another, we continue God's work on earth. In harmony with God, we care for the world and praise God with our own song of joy and love.
When have I been especially aware of God's generosity in my life?
How did I choose to express my gratitude?
(Speak to God, using the words of this prayer or a prayer of your own.)
Generous God, you care for my every need. Lead me to care for your creation and for other people with a heart of joy.
