As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments to turn your focus inward. Take three slow, deep breaths, relax, and recognize that you are in the loving presence of God, who is with you always.
Romans 6:4
We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life.
Many car washes offer the option of a "new car" air freshener to complement the cleaning of a vehicle. In the Sacrament of Baptism, we are not looking at a mere representation of newness, but at the reality of newness. We become new creations and put on Christ. Jesus shares with us the grace of God. Our response to this free gift of God's love is faithfulness, participation in the life of the Church, and sharing our gifts with others in gratitude.
If someone observed all I did yesterday, how would they have been able to tell that I have "put on Christ"?
In what ways can I strengthen my commitment to Jesus' mission of new life?
(Speak to Jesus using this prayer or one of your own.)
Jesus, miracle worker, healer and teacher, refresh and renew me. Help me to understand how I can serve you by meeting the needs of those around me.
