Before you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and begin to relax. Take several deep breaths, and rest in the loving presence of God.
Psalm 8:4-6
When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars that you set in place-What are humans that you are mindful of them, mere mortals that you care for them?Yet you have made them little less than a god, crowned them with glory and honor.
Have you ever found yourself overwhelmed by the beauty of nature? It is humbling to realize that the same God who created all of these things and so much more also created you. But this realization also invites us to reflect on the ways we see God's handiwork in ourselves and in the people around us. It's not always as evident as the moon and the stars, but it is equally as awe-inspiring! The Creator of the universe cares passionately about each of us and calls us to the glory and honor for which we were made.
Where have you noticed God's mindfulness in your life today?
How is God's handiwork revealed to you through others?
(Speak to God, using these or your own words.)
God of all creation, thank you for your loving and tender care of us. Help me to grow in awareness of the great dignity to which you call us, and to share it with those I meet.
