Before you begin, pause for a moment. Take several deep breaths and allow yourself to grow still. Be aware of God's loving presence within and all around you.

"For nothing will be impossible for God."

Life often carries with it challenges and struggles, unexpected twists and turns. When we receive shocking news or encounter unexpected struggles, we often respond with fear or anxiety. As Luke recounts in this story, initially Mary was greatly troubled by the angel Gabriel's announcement that she had been chosen to be the mother of God's Son. But even in the face of the impossible, Mary demonstrates the depth of her relationship with God and her faith in God's power.

God of surprises, I stand in awe of your power. Strengthen my faith, so that I may turn to you first in times of need. Grant me the grace to believe, as Mary believed, that nothing is impossible for you.
