As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and allow yourself to grow still. Take several slow, deep breaths. Feel God's loving gaze upon you.
1 Corinthians 13:13
So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
This scripture passage offers us a chance to reflect on our priorities. It tells us that, at the end of the day, it won't be the school we graduated from, our annual income, or our zipcode that matters. Rather, we will be judged by our fidelity to God, our hope in Christ and the power of his Resurrection, and the love that we show ourselves and our neighbor. It's as simple as that.
How do my personal priorities compare with God's priorities?
How have I experienced the love of God in my life thus far?
(Speak to God using this prayer or one of your own.)
Loving God, you make clear to us how to live our lives in harmony with you. Grant me the grace to conform my life to your virtues of faith, hope, and love.
