Before you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments of silent reflection. Breathe deeply and keep in mind that you are in the loving presence of God, who is with you as you continue your faith journey.
Acts of the Apostles 2:42
They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to breaking of the bread and to the prayers.
The apostles represented all of God's people, a fulfillment of the twelve tribes of Israel. We, the members of the body of Christ, like the earliest believers, are committed to follow the successors of the apostles-the pope and bishops. In unity, we continue to experience Jesus in prayer and the breaking of the bread. Our practice of the Precepts of the Church helps us tend to our moral life and remain united in the liturgical life of the Church.
How do I show my devotion to the teaching of the apostles?
What are ways in which I can support the mission of the Church?
(Speak to Jesus, using these words or words of your own.)
Jesus, companion to the Twelve, teacher and savior, shepherd me to join more fully with you and the Church.
