As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments to quiet yourself. Clear your mind of everyday distractions and remember your loving Father, who cares for you and guides you.
Matthew 5:17
Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
The whole of God's Word speaks to us, the Old and the New Testament. Jesus is the fulfillment of what the prophets were preparing the people for. The prophets wrote of many things that resonates with us today. Namely, that our hope is in the promises of God who loves us and frees us from our suffering. And then restored and renewed, we become rooted in justice and faithfulness to the promises of God. When we live in this hope, we can help others see God's presence in their lives.
How can I help others to see their lives in the promises of God?
What promise of God do I need to hear in my heart today?
(Speak with Jesus, using this prayer or one of your own.)
Jesus, my Savior, fulfillment of the promise of God, give me comfort and be with me in my daily struggles.
