As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and allow yourself to grow still. Let go of any distracting thoughts. Take several slow, deep breaths. Become aware of God's unconditional love for you.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
For I handed on to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures; that he was buried; that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures.
Finding life through death is a difficult paradox to grapple with. The apostle Paul identifies the death and Resurrection of Jesus as an important truth. The Apostles' Creed, which we profess, echoes this truth. The path that Jesus took to lead us to salvation is through death. Raised by the work of the Father, Jesus shares his divine life with us through the Holy Spirit. The grace we receive from Jesus through the Holy Spirit helps us to live faithful lives.
How do others see Christ in me?
Where do I most recognize the grace of the Holy Spirit in my life?
(Pause to pray to Jesus using this prayer or your own.)
Jesus, you show me the path to eternal life. Give me the grace to share my faith and serve others.
