As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments of quiet reflection. Take a few deep breaths and call to mind that you are in the loving presence of God, who is with you as you continue this journey of love.
Mark 6:41
Then, taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to [his] disciples to set before the people; he also divided the two fish among them all.
God's love pours out abundantly to meet our needs. Jesus knew this and broke the bread with confidence. After Jesus shared the meager food available and fed the thousands assembled, there were more provisions at the end than at the start. We, like the hungry thousands in the Gospel, are invited to share in the life of Jesus. When we gather at Mass to receive Eucharist, we experience the lavish abundance of God.
When have I been aware of the lavish abundance of God in my life?
What hunger of mine could I ask Jesus to satisfy today?
(Speak to Jesus, using these words or those of your own.)
Jesus, be multiplied in my life that I can reach out to others in need.
