As you begin, pause for a few moments to set aside all distractions. Take three slow, deep breaths. Remember that you are in the loving presence of God.
Acts of the Apostles 2:17
"It will come to pass in the last days," God says, "that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams."
Visions and dreams-do we trust them? Many people who heard Peter's speech at Pentecost thought that the visions and dreams he spoke of were the result of too much wine. When we allow the Spirit to move in us, we become dreamers too. God's dreams for the world live in us through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, whom we receive in the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. The "portion of the spirit" that falls on us is needed by the rest of the world. When we trust our visions and dreams and join them with the visions and dreams of others, God's dream for the world becomes reality.
How would I describe God's dream for the world?
How do I participate in making that dream a reality?
(Speak to God, using these words or your own words.)
God of all Creation, your Spirit fills the earth. Walk with me as I boldly proclaim your dream for the world.
