Take a few moments to come to a place of quiet within yourself. Focusing on your breathing, become aware of God's presence at the core of your being.
Luke 4:8
Jesus said to him in reply, "It is written: You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him alone shall you serve.'"
Imagine the amount of time in a single day as water in a large jar. Every day you use this water to fill a certain number of cups, each cup representing something you devote your day to. Some of the cups are large and some are small. Which cups do you fill first, which ones do you fill last? Which cups cannot be filled at all because there is no water left in the jar? How much water is devoted to God? Jesus' words remind us that our primary responsibility is to God alone.
What is the clutter in my life that distracts me from God and from acknowledging God's love for others and for me?
How much of my day do I devote to God?
(Pray, using these words or those of your own.)
God, in the midst of the busyness of every day, help me keep you as the focus of what I say and do, that my life may be a reflection of your love.
