Breathe in the Spirit. Breathe out all distractions. Relax and breathe. Allow the peace of the Spirit to flow through you.
Isaiah 55:3
"Come to me heedfully, listen, that you may have life."
In this oracle, the prophet Isaiah gives a caution and a reason for hope-pay attention. Heedful attention calls us to make a commitment. We pledge that we will listen well. This is not an easy task. It wasn't easy in Isaiah's time, and it isn't easy now. Today we are accustomed to quick responses and fast resolutions. However, responding to the Lord takes time. But see the reward of heedful attention-that you may have life.
What would it take for you to heedfully listen to the Word of the Lord?
What could you do in order to be a better listener?
(Pray using this prayer or one of your own.)
Dear and gracious God, my life can be so hectic that I fail to listen to your life-giving words. By your grace open my ears, so that I may hear.
