Before you begin, pause for a moment. Take several deep breaths and allow yourself to grow still. Be aware of God's loving presence within you.
Acts of the Apostles 2:38
Peter [said] to them, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit."
Peter addressed these words to a crowd that had gathered on Pentecost. Some who gathered were distressed because they realized that Jesus was in fact the Messiah. But now that Jesus was gone, it seemed too late for them to do anything. Peter and the disciples stood before the crowd and proclaimed that Jesus was not gone-he had risen and poured forth his Holy Spirit. Peter's words were very encouraging to the people. It was as if he was saying, "Not to worry, all is not lost. There's still time to change your mind and turn around your life. God always longs to reconcile you to himself."
In what areas of my life do I feel as though all is lost?
What must I do to turn things around? How is God calling me to reconciliation?
(Speak to God, using this prayer or a prayer of your own.)
Loving God, you are always there, reaching out to me and calling me to yourself. Draw me into your loving embrace and fill me with your spirit.
