As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and allow yourself to grow still. Let go of any distracting thoughts. Take several slow, deep breaths. Become aware of God's unconditional love for you.

Before a diamond, the strongest and most brilliant mineral, emerges, it withstands intense pressure and heat. Our faith too is tested. Daily we endure the temptations of taking the easy way out, of the "good life" offered by our society. The road to goodness and holiness is not always the easiest traveled, but it is the most rewarding.
