Before you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and quiet yourself. Take three long, deep breaths and remember that our loving Father is with you.
Luke 19:5
Jesus looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house."
Zacchaeus was a man with many possessions and many problems. The wealthy Zacchaeus had a powerful position but was small in stature, both physically and in the community. Zacchaeus's reputation for dishonesty was well deserved. When Jesus called to him, Zacchaeus faced a pivotal moment in his life. He could have made excuses and turned Jesus away. Instead, Zacchaeus embraced Jesus and was transformed. When we embrace Jesus and turn away from sin, we too experience transformation.
Is there anything you'd like to do to prepare your house to receive Jesus?
In what ways has my encounter with Jesus transformed me?
(Lovingly pray this prayer or one of your own.)
Loving and forgiving Jesus, I run to you today. Come into my home, my heart, my life.
