As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and allow yourself to grow still. Let go of any distracting thoughts. Take several slow, deep breaths. Feel God's loving gaze upon you.
James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful.
Healing happens in many ways and forms. Who has not experienced the inner healing that comes from acknowledging weakness and restoring a broken relationship? Who has not lifted up in prayer a friend or loved one in need of physical, emotional, or spiritual healing? The Letter of James reminds us of the power of fervent prayer. It's a power that can heal both the one who is afflicted and the one who intercedes.
How have I experienced the healing power of prayer?
Who are the sick and suffering for whom I can pray today?
(Pray to Jesus using these words or words of your own.)
Jesus, merciful healer, you know what we are made of and reach out to us in our weakness. You healed the sick in body, mind, and spirit. May my prayers for those who suffer be a source of healing for those in need.
