As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments and allow yourself to grow still. Let go of any distracting thoughts. Take several slow, deep breaths. Become aware of God's unconditional love for you.
Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.
When was the last time you felt lost? Perhaps you weren't physically lost, but due to a broken relationship, an unexpected change of plans or something out of your control, the feeling was the same. No matter the cause, when we're lost we want someone to come and find us. We look outside of ourselves for help. Luke tells us that Jesus does exactly that. He came to earth to seek out and save what was lost, and continues seeking today. Jesus reassures that we are never so lost that he cannot find and save us.
When did I last ask Jesus' help to seek out and save me when I felt lost?
Where, besides with Jesus, am I tempted to turn for help when I feel lost?
(Prayerfully speak to Jesus, using these words or words of your own.)
Lord, you see me and love me wherever I am. Seek me when I am hiding and save me when I am lost.
