As you begin your retreat, pause for a few moments to set aside distractions and take three deep breaths. Know that you are in the loving presence of God, who is with you as you continue to proclaim the Good News of Jesus.
Acts of the Apostles 2:3-4
Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit. . . .
Gathered in an upper room, the disciples were aware that something was happening. First, the sound of a strong wind and then tongues of fire heralded the coming of the Holy Spirit. After receiving the Holy Spirit, the disciples were changed forever and began to witness the Gospel. The Holy Spirit changes our lives too. In the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, we receive grace through the Holy Spirit. This grace helps us to dedicate our lives to God and to live to be signs of God's presence in the world.
When have I been aware of the movements of the Holy Spirit in me?
What does it mean for me to dedicate my life to God?
(Speak to the Spirit using this prayer or one of your own.)
Come Holy Spirit, renew my heart, fill me with the grace I need to witness the Good News of Jesus to those in my life.
