As you prepare for this retreat, pause for a few moments and pay attention to your breathing. Slowly take three deep breaths, and remember that you are in the loving presence of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
We hear a lot today about living mindfully. It has to do with being present to what is going on around you as well as within you. Saint Paul is saying something similar to the people of Corinth. Whether they are gathered together to eat and drink around the Lord's table, at work, or at home, they are to live their lives in such a way as to give glory to God. Paul's words extend to us today. We might find it easy to give glory to God while we are praying. But what about at the mall or the grocery store or the office? Our goal as followers of Jesus is to live our lives in such a way that no matter where we are or what we do, God's glory shines though.
What conscious choices can I make in my life today that will make Jesus more present in and around me?
In whom do I most recognize God's glory shining through?
(Speak to Jesus using the following prayer or one of your own.)
Jesus, may my sharing in the Eucharist give me the strength to live my life for your glory. Teach me to find you in all things, and to always celebrate your presence in my life.
