Be still for a few moments. Take three deep breaths and be aware of the loving presence of God, who is with you on the journey.
2 Thessalonians (adapted)
But we ought to give thanks to God for you always, loved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in truth. To this end he has also called you through our gospel to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.
This prayer of thanksgiving is meant for all who respond to God’s call to hear, understand, and accept the truth of God’s Salvation in Jesus Christ. We hear and accept this call within the context of the Church, the community that keeps the promise of Salvation offered by Jesus alive in the world. As catechetical leaders and catechists, we accept a special responsibility to teach and live the truth of who Jesus is in order to be a light to others of hope in the world.
To be an effective witness of the Gospel, what special grace do I need to ask God for?
Using this prayer or one of your own, ask the Holy Spirit for guidance.
Lord Jesus, you promise to be with us always.
Help me be conscious of your presence in my thoughts, words, and actions today.
