The young people will understand the concept of love beyond romantic connotations.
Lesson Outcome
The young people should be able to give examples of ways we can practice the virtues of faith, hope, and love.
Materials
8-inch heavy paper plates (1 per young person)
3 x 4 inch cards cut from construction paper of different colors (6 per young person)
15-inch pieces of yarn (9 per young person)
Old magazines, newspapers
Scissors
Hole punch
Glue sticks
Clear tape
Directions
Explain to the young people that they will be making mobiles showing love in the family, love between friends, love of neighbor, the love expressed by missionaries and others who serve in special ways, and so forth.
Direct them to find pictures representing the various types of love and to glue them to the 3 x 4 inch cards.
Then punch one hole in the tops of the cards, and six holes around the outside of the paper plate.
Next, have them tie a piece of yarn to the top of each card and thread the yarn through one of the holes in the paper plate and tape it.
Then have them punch three equidistant holes through the edge of the paper plate and tie a piece of yarn in each hole.
Next, have the young people knot the loose ends together to hang the love mobile.
Have them bring their mobiles home to display them as reminders of the love they are called to show for one another.
